Girl Scouts can get special co-op patch

Part of the fun of being a Girl Scout is learning new things and being rewarded with a patch!

girlscoutpatch.jpgA brand new Co-ops for Community patch has just been developed. It is being sponsored by the National Cooperative Business Association and Cabot Creamery.

Depending on the level of scouting (Brownies through Cadettes/Seniors), troop members are required to complete five to 10 activities. The activities help the girls learn about cooperative principles, how cooperatives are formed, jobs available at co-ops, and how co-ops are different than other forms of business.

To receive a Co-ops for Community patch program booklet, contact Deb Lowery at: writer1118@bellsouth.net, or (205) 980-1118. When troop leaders and their troop members complete the survey on page 3 of the booklet and return it to Lowery, Cabot Creamery will send the troop a Calcium Treat package containing fun, calcium-related items and coupons.

Cabot Creamery also sponsors a 3-A-Day Calcium Challenge patch for Girl Scout troops.

For more information, check out this Web site about the patch.
